Roof top tent lightning storm. Tents alone don t attract lightning but that doesn t mean they re safe during a thunderstorm. When you hear thunder lightning is within striking distance. The possibility for a tent to get struck by lightning is increased by the campsite location and adjacent tall objects. If you can hear the thunder lightning is within striking distance and you should head to a location such as a building or an all metal vehicle.
A tent and lightning are a bad combination. However due to the higher ground and the isolated tree next to the tent this would not be a safe location in a thunderstorm. Your tent is designed to protect you from rain the sun and even heat. Your tent is not safe if lightning occurs.
Just a few years ago rooftop tents began popping up in the outdoor market but they were ridiculously expensive. Find a safe location immediately either in a building with plumbing and wiring or an all metal automobile not convertible top.
